Member Benefits

Members receive access to several exclusive benefits, including:

  • Virtual networking: The online community provides a central location to access reports and research, a discussion forum to connect with school members across the country around issues impacting students, and an event calendar.
  • Content and research: Webinars, podcasts, and other resources provide timely content and research updates.
  • Conferences: members receive a discount upon registering for the National Connection Joint Council meal event at the NSBA Annual Conference.

Regular membership is available to any elected or appointed board member of any public, tribal, or contract/grant/charter school, as well as those schools operated specifically for American Indian/Alaska Native students by the federal government (i.e., Bureau of Indian Affairs schools) within the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Dues for regular members are seventy-five dollars ($75) per year. Regular members are allowed to participate in all discussions, to vote on all issues, including election of officers, and to run for and hold any office in the Council.

Associate membership (non-voting rights) is available to tribal administrators, educators, former board members and members of the Board of Directors of the National Indian Education Association, and other Indian education organizations. Dues for Associate members are fifty dollars ($50) per year. Associate members are entitled to all benefits provided to regular members except voting or holding office.

The NSBA Councils serves in an advisory capacity to the NSBA in matters affecting NSBA’s policy and program issues and serves to foster an organizational culture based on sound education research, assessment, and evaluation principles. Their purpose is to promote quality education for all students with emphasis on the problems and successes.
