Program Director, Council of School Attorneys

The National School Boards Association invites applications for the position of Program Director, Council of School Attorneys.  The ideal candidate is an innovative attorney with experience in education law (K-12 preferred) --- or if a non-attorney, then an individual with 10 plus years of state or national bar association management and attorney programming experience.  The COSA Program Director supports the work of a 22-member Board of Directors comprised of veteran school lawyers from across the country, as well as its committees and working groups.  The Director also oversees COSA’s legal programming, including two live national seminars and 12+ webinars annually, online content, professional social networking tools, membership materials and resources.  Desired skills include the ability to lead and motivate staff, analyze and develop budgets to meet strategic objectives, and think creatively to anticipate future member needs.  In addition to the programmatic duties, the Director also contributes to that articulation of national school law policy development as a member of the NSBA legal team in writing and through public speaking. 

Founded in 1940, NSBA is a not-for-profit organization representing state associations of school boards and their more than 90,000 local school board members throughout the United States, virtually all of whom are elected. These local officials govern more than 13,600 local school districts serving the nation’s 50 million public school students. NSBA achieves that mission by representing the school board perspective in working with federal government agencies and national organizations that impact education, and provides vital information and services to state associations of school boards throughout the nation.
