NSBA’s Council of School Attorneys presents its annual School Law Seminar March 28-30, 2019 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Held in conjunction with the NSBA Annual Conference, the Seminar offers school attorneys 11+ hours of Continuing Legal Education credit on important legal topics facing public school boards.

The COSA, School Law Seminar offers a specialized CLE experience for attorneys representing K-12 public school boards. The seminar will provide invaluable insights and practical advice from experienced practitioners on the key legal issues currently facing public schools.  Our seminar planning committee has designed a program that will appeal to all attorneys who regularly represent public school boards, with topics on issues you regularly address – student rights and discipline, labor and employment, special education, school business issues and governance – plus current hot topics like school safety, suicide prevention and response planning, and school law issues to be address by the “new” Supreme Court.

In addition to our longstanding pre-seminar meetings for in house and state association counsel, we are offering a session for attorneys new to the practice of school law. These gatherings include lunch and require a separate registration and small fee. Registration is limited, so sign up as soon as possible.

Early Bird sessions on Thursday afternoon will feature topics in two tracks – Students and Special Ed, and Labor and Employment.  These sessions will be offered for CLE, so be sure to attend!

You will not want to miss the Seminar’s Opening General Session Thursday afternoon:

School Law in the “New” Roberts Court

With the confirmation of long-time swing vote Anthony Kennedy’s replacement Brett Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court is poised to swing predictably conservative in the coming years. This session will feature insights and predictions about the new Roberts Court and its likely impact on school law.

Detailed program information is available here.

COSA is applying for 11+ hours of CLE.  Please check with your jurisdiction for specific rules for live seminars.
