A new report, Beyond Fiction: The Importance of Reading for Information, released today by the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA's) Center for Public Education (CPE), examines the key role of informational reading in preparing students for college, the workplace, and day-to-day life.

CPE arrived at several conclusions in its report:

The guide reflects the importance of school boards working in partnership with various stakeholders in supporting the success of all students. It also serves as a blueprint for school board members who wish to create a better-coordinated system of supports for children and their families.
