For fifty years, the Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) has been at the forefront in helping urban school districts in their work to close the achievement gap, raise high school graduation rates, provide intervention services to academically struggling students, and create broad-based school programs to support students who live in poverty or other circumstances that create serious obstacles to learning.

Thank you for attending and participating in the CUBE’s 49th Annual Conference. It was most certainly a lot of work for all of you who attended, but we also know that as you return to your districts you carry the knowledge and experiences of this time and will use that to further drive your school districts in the right direction towards Excellence, Equity, and Unity.

NSBA’s Council of Urban Boards of Education Announces 2017-2018 Leadership

Alexandria, Va. (March 30, 2017) - The National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) elected leaders and new members to its Steering Committee during its annual business meeting at NSBA’s Annual Conference, March 25-27, in Denver, Colorado.

Tacoma Public Schools winner of NSBA 2016 Urban School Board Excellence Award

The Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) Award for Urban School Board Excellence was created in 2004 to recognize the leadership of urban school districts where effective school board governance has an impact on student achievement, and this year’s winner has more than demonstrated its leadership in reshaping the academic program and the success of its students.

Former Metropolitan Nashville Board Member Winner of Lifetime Achievement Award

Alexandria, Va. (Sept 30, 2016) - Cheryl D. Mayes, former Metropolitan Nashville School Board member and devoted advocate for public education, was awarded the 2016 Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) Benjamin Elijah Mays Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony on Sept. 30, during CUBE’s 49th Annual Conference in Miami, Florida.
