Tamara Boorstein

Director of Communications

Tamara Boorstein is Director of Communications at the National School Boards Association (NSBA). Tamara is charged with driving the organization’s integrated communications program across the association to support federal policy, member services and business goals.

She began her career as a teacher of students learning English as a second language, first overseas in Japan, then in Brooklyn New York. 

When she changed careers to communications, Tamara remained close to her educational roots, whether serving as an adjunct professor at New York University’s (NYU) School of Professional Studies, campaigning for New York City schools, or leading communications programs and campaigns for universities including the 64 colleges and universities at the State University of New York (SUNY) and New York University’s Polytechnic University (now known as New York University Tandon School of Engineering). She also led communications efforts for New York City’s Outward Bound and The Autistic Association of Manhattan. 

Tamara received a bachelor’s degree in History and French from the University of Virginia and a Master’s of Education from Adelphi University.
