Rory Davenport is Chief Communications Officer at the National School Boards Association.  Rory leads NSBA’s branding efforts and has primary responsibility for developing and implementing the organization’s strategic communications efforts to advance Legislative, Legal, and Public Advocacy agendas. He and his team communicate the association’s mission, priorities and news and engage key stakeholders, including school board officials, members of the media, government officials, regulatory agencies and the public.

Rory was a public affairs executive in the political arena for the Florida Democratic Party and managed a U.S. Senate campaign.  He also worked on two presidential campaigns – Gephardt for President as deputy field director and Harkin for President as state director.

As an executive at four leading global communications agencies, he worked on many significant public policy issues. He was an early practitioner of electoral-style public affairs campaigns and was one of the architects of the Branded Advocacy concept, the integrating of branding concepts into advocacy programs to enable organizations to build their brand and succeed in the public policy arena.

Rory received a bachelor’s degree in political science from The Florida State University. He is a former professional tennis player and he lives in Washington, D.C.
