The National School Boards Association, the Thomas B. Fordham Institute, the Iowa School Boards Foundation, and the Wallace Foundation joined together to support new research on school boards and their members. School Boards Circa 2010, Governance in the Accountability Era, presents the results of that research so as to provide parents, voters, policymakers, advocates, and educators with an informative look at the individuals and bodies charged with governing America’s schools.

The study was comprised of three surveys: an online survey of 1,277 nine to seventeen year-old students, an online survey of 1,039 parents and telephone interviews with 250 school district leaders who make decisions on Internet policy.
