NSBA letter "Helping Students Succeed Through the Power of School Choice" asks the U.S. House of Representative subcommittee hearing to review the options provided by public school districts such as local magnet schools and charter schools authorized by local school boards to military academies and those schools offering STEM.   NSBA attached the Center for Public Education's January 2017 paper "School Choice:  What the Research Says" which looks at the effectiveness of educational choice.  Key findings:  there's no reason to conclude that choice in itself will produce better outcomes; non-public school choice should come with warning labels; and expanding charter schools is not an overall reform strategy.
