Kelly Pollitt joins NSBA as Chief Advocacy Officer

With more than two decades of experience developing pre-K-12 education policy and leading successful advocacy initiatives, Kelly Pollitt today joins NSBA as Chief Advocacy Officer (CAO). Pollitt will oversee NSBA’s Federal Advocacy & Public Policy group which develops policies and strategies to secure legislation and regulations that enhance public education and support more than 50 million students in public schools. She will also head the efforts of the National School Boards Action Center, NSBA’s national grass roots organization, and the Center for Public Education (CPE), NSBA’s research tank, which examines issues impacting public education.

“For more than 75 years, NSBA has successfully led the effort to support and enhance public education,” said Thomas J. Gentzel, Executive Director and CEO of the National School Boards Association. “Kelly will build on NSBA’s successful advocacy work through new initiatives and approaches. Her ingenuity and commitment to public education will enable us to continue to make more progress on the issue of equity, underscore the importance of local governance, and achieve smart policies that serve students and the country well.”

Pollitt was most recently at the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) where she led the association’s advocacy and policy initiatives as Chief Strategist of Policy and Alliances.
