School Law Practice Seminar

2016 School Law Practice Seminar
October 20-22, 2016
Hilton Portland & Executive Tower
Portland, Oregon

If you are an attorney representing public K-12 school boards, you can’t afford to miss the CLE event of the fall, the NSBA Council of School Attorneys 2016 School Law Practice Seminar. At this learning experience designed exclusively for your school law practice, gain invaluable insights and practical advice from experience practitioners on the key legal issues facing public schools. The Seminar Committee has designed a program with something for all specialties – employment, student rights, governance, and business. And this year we’re offering a bonus lunch session for attorneys new to school law.

Also new this year is a work-alike group meeting on law firm management, which will take place on Thursday from 9:30am - 1:30pm.* The in-house and state counsel groups will meet from 9:00 - 1:30 p.m.*

* These group meetings require separate registration and a small fee.  Advance registration is required as there will be limited registration available on site.

We appreciate your understanding as we try to cover our costs for these very popular discussion sessions!

Here’s a sample of the topics our speakers will tackle in Portland:

  • Federal Agency Guidance and the Law: A Showdown in the Courts
  • Advising School Boards on Practical and Proactive Solutions for Disparities in School Discipline
  • The NSBA Advocacy Agenda
  • Advising School Districts on Threats of Violence
  • Working with Law Enforcement
