Associate Editor

The National School Boards Association (NSBA) seeks a highly skilled writer and editor to create credible and engaging content across digital and print channels, including websites, print and digital publications, press releases, editorials, electronic newsletters, and an online newsroom. Creativity, a penchant for detail, and the ability to learn and use new technologies are crucial. Proven performance in a deadline-driven environment is essential. The position will work across two key departments. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask to address overlapping assignments, multiple deadlines, and shifting priorities.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Mass Media, or related field, with professional journalism/newsroom experience in a deadline-driven environment; experience working with social media/Web 2.0 tools; strong background in web, social media, and news writing; ability to produce clear, compelling writing, with close attention to audience, goals, messaging, tone, and accuracy on tight deadlines.  Excellent project management, and oral and written communication skills; strong knowledge of AP Style; and the ability to work with inter-departmental teams. Prior experience in reporting and writing about K-12 public education is preferred.
