TLN Site Visit: Mapleton Public Schools - A District Designed with Choice in Mind
Tuesday, October 27, 2008
8:00 am - 5:30 PM
*$50, Limited to 100 participants, Lunch included
Few school districts have ever gone as far as Mapleton in providing choices for students noted a recent Business Week article. They were describing the reinvention of Mapleton Public Schools, which is in its third year operating with a "small by design" system of schools. Over the past several years, Mapleton has personalized its learning communities and created college preparatory schools of choice. In 2008, nearly 100 percent of Mapleton seniors applied to college, and of those seniors 90% were accepted into the college of their choice. Mapleton's redesign has received national and international attention, and we invite you to join us for a tour of their diverse and innovative learning community.
TLN Digital Wish Grant
Digital Wish is a website designed to help educators find funding for classroom technology. Teachers register, create profiles, and create a wish list of much-needed technology products, similar to a gift registry. Educators can then elect to use their profile to fundraise for donations from parents, the community, or administrators. Visiting donors can grant wishes or donate money directly to a classroom, and Digital Wish automatically matches every donation with an additional 2%-10% in funding. Anyone who has registered and created a profile is automatically entered to win one of 43 Digital Wish technology grants! Check out the monthly Digital Wish grant schedule here: http://www.digitalwish.com/dw/digitalwish/grants_sched.
