2009 T+L Call for Proposals

Roundtable Discussions

What Are They?

Roundtable Discussions are designed to give conference attendees an opportunity to participate in a lively conversation and share ideas with colleagues from around the country about a specific topic related to education technology. These facilitated discussions provide attendees with a place to talk with an expert, and gain the perspective of other colleagues. When applying to facilitate a Roundtable Discussion, please provide information about your interest and expertise with the proposed topic.

What's Your Role?

Although facilitators should not plan to make a formal presentation – and no AV support is provided -- you should give participants enough information about your background to indicate why you wanted to serve as a facilitator and what special experiences you have had relevant to the topic of your session.

Roundtable Facilitators should use their expertise to direct a focused conversation and bring everyone into the process. Since a Roundtable Discussion is designed for active participation, individuals should plan to introduce themselves and give their titles so people have a better idea of a speaker's perspective on an issue when he/she contributes to the discussion. Depending on the conversation, facilitators may wish to gather information and provide electronic follow-up after the session to discussion participants.
