White House Summit recognizes school districts for joining national effort to create New Generation High Schools

The Rochester City School District of New York and Hillsborough County School District of Florida participated today in the Obama Administration’s first-ever White House Summit on Next Generation High Schools. The event highlighted students, educators, philanthropists, and entrepreneurs who have proven their commitment to preparing high school students to succeed in the global workforce. The school districts highlighted during the summit were two of the first to incorporate key elements of the New Generation High Schools STEM initiative.

2016 CUBE Steering Committee Nominating Procedures and Roles and Responsibilities

The National School Boards Association's (NSBA) Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) Steering Committee consists of 16 urban school board members, including an immediate past chair from CUBE school districts elected by CUBE districts.  The members serve staggered three-year terms.  Membership on the Steering Committee is limited to two full consecutive terms, and incumbent members whose pre - or first terms that expire in 2016 must reapply to be considered for reelection.

2015 Urban School Board Excellence Award winners - Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Fort Wayne Community Schools, and Lincoln Public Schools

Each year the National School Boards Association’s (NSBA) Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) recognizes exemplary school boards for their excellence in school board governance, ability to build civic capacity, success in closing the achievement gap and working for equity in education, and demonstrated success of academic excellence. This year’s award recipients are Ohio’s Cleveland Metropolitan School District, Indiana’s Fort Wayne Community Schools, and Nebraska’s Lincoln Public Schools.
