The National Hispanic Council Membership

The National Hispanic Council (NHC) has several membership offerings from which to choose:

Regular (voting rights)

Regular voting membership shall be open to and held only by elected or appointed member of any local school district Board of Trustees, Board of Education, or State Board of Education within the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or the U.S. Virgin Island. Regular member is entitled to a vote on all matters before the council and the right to hold any office or committee position. Dues for regular members are $75.

Associate (non-voting rights)

Associate membership shall be open to any educator, school administrator, or other individual interested in and supportive of the purposes and goals of the National Hispanic Council. Associate member shall not be entitled to vote nor hold an office in the council, but may serve on committees. Dues for associate members are $50.

Honorary (non-voting rights)

Honorary membership shall be open, upon request, to any past chair of the Hispanic Council who no longer holds office on a local school board. The Board of Directors of the Hispanic Council may elect additional honorary members as it deems appropriate. Honorary members shall pay no dues. Honorary member shall not be entitled to vote nor hold an office in the Caucus, but may serve on committees. No dues required for honorary members.

Corporate (non-voting rights)

Corporate membership shall be open to any corporation or business organization interested in and supportive of the purposes and goals of the National Hispanic Council. Corporate members shall not be entitled to vote nor hold an office in the council, but may serve on committees. Dues for corporate members are $1,000.

Full Board Membership (for school board members only; voting rights)

Full Board membership shall be open to school boards that meet the criteria of three, five, seven or nine elected or appointed members of any local school district Board of Trustees, Board of Education or State Board of Education within the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or the U.S. Virgin Island. Members are considered regular voting members and shall be entitled to a vote on all matters before the council and the right to hold any office or committee position. Dues for a Full Board are: $175 for three school board members, $300 for five school board members, $375 for seven school board members, and $525 for nine school board members.
