Providing Access to Technology
You will want to make certain that all your students, including those with disabilities, have access to technology. In fact, many new adaptive technologies already are helping students with physical and learning disabilities function well in regular classrooms. Expanded keyboards, speech synthesizers, motorized wheelchairs, and mouth wands that activate computer systems are only a few of the technological advances that are enabling students to learn in a regular classroom.
Policies and Technology
There are policy issues related to technology and special needs, many of them originating at the federal and state levels.
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act provides information and policy guidance at the federal level.
Educational resources by state are listed and linked, including state departments of education. Click on your state for policy resources available on the web.
