Alexandria, Va. (Jan. 31, 2014) - The National School Boards Association (NSBA) is honoring the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) for a project that has helped Massachusetts school boards improve teaching and learning in their districts. MASC will be awarded the 2014 Thomas A. Shannon Award for Excellence at NSBA's Leadership Conference in Washington on Feb. 2, 2014.

Alexandria, Va. (Jan. 31, 2014) – Patricia Culler of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) will receive the 2014 Thomas Shannon Award for Excellence from the National School Boards Association (NSBA). Culler will be honored at NSBA's Leadership Conference in Washington on Feb. 2, 2014.

Gentzel, Executive Director of the National School Boards Association (NSBA), released the following statement:

(Jan. 6, 2014) - The National School Boards Association (NSBA), joined by other leading education groups and a state school boards association, is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to accept Easton Area Sch. Dist. v. B.H for review and to reverse the appellate court’s decision as contrary to well-established Supreme Court precedent.

College drop-out rates continue to be high and are hindering America’s economic progress

Alexandria, Va. (Oct. 11, 2012) - A new study from the National School Board Association’s Center for Public Education shows how students can succeed once they enter college. The report, “High school rigor and good advice: Setting up students to succeed,” found that high-level courses in high school, particularly in mathematics, and college help students earn their degrees.
