Council of Urban Boards of Education
CUBE represents over 110 urban school districts in 35 states and the Virgin Islands. Our member districts educate nearly 8 million students, in over 12,000 schools, with a collective budget of approximately 99 billion dollars. CUBE helps urban school leaders find solutions to challenges at the local level and seeks to improve their policy making effectiveness. CUBE creates a forum for urban school board members to share innovative practices through issues seminars, conferences, legislative advocacy, research projects, professional networking opportunities, specialized publications, and local governance and policy assistance.
To participate in CUBE, school districts must be a member in good standing with their state school boards association.

2010 CUBE Resource Directory now available!
The CUBE Resource Directory is a networking tool designed to foster easy and fast communication among urban school leaders. You will be able to locate personnel and other vital demographic information about each CUBE district. This publication is one of the many benefits provided to CUBE members through the NSBA National Affiliate Program.
Thank you to all of the CUBE districts who were responsive in getting their updates to us. We are very pleased to make this publication available to our members.

Presentations from the CUBE Issues Forum now available (held in conjunction with the 2010 Federal Relations Network Conference in Washington (DC), January 30th & February 2nd, 2010
CUBE programming began on Saturday, January 30th with a special early-bird Issues Forum which focused on School Nutrition and Food Safety. CUBE was joined by dynamic speakers including board member George VanHook, Sr. and Anthony Geraci of Baltimore City Schools, Gabrielle Serra from U.S. Congressman’s George Millers’ (D-CA, 7th District) office; and Jeannie Sneed of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

On Tuesday, February 2nd CUBE hosted its annual Congressional Luncheon in the Rayburn House Office Building. We were honored to be joined by U.S. Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA, 2nd District) who delivered a compelling address focused on the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) and full service community schools.
