In a case on remand from the Supreme Court of Kansas, a state district court has ruled that the state’s school finance plan violates the state constitution.
The chair of the education committee of the Hawai'i House of Representatives will ask legislators in the coming legislative session to support a new spending formula for Hawai'i’s public schools. The reforms could shift more control over finances and curriculum from the Hawai˘i Department of Education (DOE) to individual schools.
Though some of the nation’s largest bond referenda for economic development were defeated in the November 4th election, school districts across the country won over voters with bond measures to build and renovate America’s public schools.
