Student Performing Groups for the 2009 Annual Conference

Three or four high school musical groups are invited to perform at the NSBA conference each year.

General guidelines for selection are as follows:

  • Performing groups must represent a public school or group of public schools and have school board approval to represent their district.
  • The total size of the group (including instrumentalists, singers, dancers, accompanists, etc.) may not exceed 30 people.
  • General Session Performance Times are strictly held to 15 minutes.
  • The focus of this performance is on students; groups will be limited to one adult accompanist for performance.
  • Audition pieces in CD, DVD or VHS format (along with application), must be received no later than August 31, 2008 to be considered for the 2009 Conference. Materials should be sent to: Alyssa Martin, 185 Prince George Street, #1, Annapolis, MD 21401. Selections are made by the professional consultant of NSBA's General Sessions (not by NSBA's elected leaders or staff) on the sole basis of performance quality.
  • NSBA provides two nights of complimentary housing for the students in the group and for two or three accompanying adults who will be expected to assume responsibility for the safety and deportment of the group.
  • Transportation and meal costs are the responsibility of the respective school boards.

Please contact Sandy Folks, Manager, NSBA Conferences, if you have questions.
