National Teacher of the Year
Focus on… Beyond One Subject at a Time — Educating the Whole Child
Cross-curricular teaching allows students to experience a connection with and see a relationship between core subjects, such as math and reading, and others, like the fine arts, that equally challenge their minds and hearts now and as adults. As a music teacher in Granite Falls, Washington, Andrea Peterson, 2007 National Teacher of the Year, will outline how she has connected student projects in core classes with what she emphasizes in her music curriculum, thus challenging her students' creativity, understanding of learning connections, and brain capacity.
