Conference features money-saving tips
04/09 -- The NSBA Annual Conference features more than 200 workshops on everything from how to create a successful educational foundation to the connection between healthy students and academic performance, from data dashboards to the best ways to reward excellent teachers.
NSBA’s annual conference offers school board members leadership development opportunities, extensive opportunities for collaboration with a nationwide network of colleagues, and workable solutions for school districts struggling to raise student achievement during challenging economic times.
In fact, conference-goers are likely to discover so many new ideas about getting the most out of their district budgets that the money-saving tips they will bring home will more than cover the cost of attending the conference.
A sure-to-be-popular session covers the new stimulus plan -- and what every school leader should know about applying for funding, how the money can be used to modernize schools and upgrade districts’ instructional and professional development programs, and the law’s reporting requirements.
Another newly added session is a town hall meeting with case studies of school board solutions to the financial crisis.
A highlight of the Annual Conference is the Exhibit Hall, featuring a huge array of products and services for public schools, including everything you need know about cutting your energy bills, implementing cost-saving “green building” innovations, the latest instructional technology innovations, and much more.
Much more is going on, including:
• Special sessions, roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities in National Affiliate Central.
• The School Law Seminar, sponsored by the Council of School Attorneys.
• Special programming and a site visit for participants in NSBA’s Council of Urban Boards of Education.
