Firefighters will give fitness tests
03/08 -- The Health and Wellness Pavilion at NSBA’s 2008 Annual Conference will be bigger and better than ever.
Firefighters from the Orange County Fire and Rescue Department will bring a mobile health and evaluation unit, where conference attendees will be able to have their level of fitness evaluated -- including body mass index, mini-stress tests on a treadmill, and strength and flexibility tests -- and receive a personalized fitness and workout plan.
In addition, the fire department will host a “fitness challenge,” that will include low-impact exercise and trivia questions on safety and health issues.
The Health and Wellness Pavilion also will feature NSBA’s School Health Program and demonstrations by companies involved with health, nutrition, physical education, and related issues.
NSBA Exhibit Director Karen Miller says the Exhibit Hall in Orlando will be 3,000 square feet larger than last year’s. She expects representatives of 375 to 400 companies will be on hand with the latest products and services for public schools.
The Exhibition will have a new section, the Marketplace, where attendees will be able to purchase products to take home with them.
Music Main Street USA will be back for the third year in a row. This session features companies with products to help school leaders bring music and the arts into their classrooms.
