Neil Putnam
President
Neil Putnam has served on the Mitchell Board of Education since 2000 and has been a member of the Associated School Boards of South Dakota Board of Directors since 2006. During his tenure as an association director, he has been selected to several leadership positions, including ASBSD First Vice-President (2010), ASBSD Executive Committee (2008-current) and chair of the ASBSD Policy and Resolutions Committee (2010).
Putnam also provides leadership for numerous civic and professional organizations, including his tenure as an officer for the South Dakota Planners
Association. He is the city planner for Mitchell and is a former U.S. Congressional
staff member.
Dr. Wade Pogany
Executive Director
Executive Director Dr. Wade Pogany joined Associated School Boards of South Dakota (ASBSD) in September 2011 after the retirement of Dr. Wayne Lueders.
Pogany’s 27-year professional career has been devoted to South Dakota’s public school students. He was a teacher for 11 years and a high school principal for six. He has worked at the South Dakota Department of Education since 2001, where he currently serves as director of assessment and technology systems.
Pogany, 48, is a life-long South Dakotan. He currently lives in Pierre with his wife, Karen, who is a first-grade teacher. They have two daughters, Sarah and Jennifer, who are currently attending college and working toward careers in education. He received his doctorate in education administration from the University of South Dakota in July 2009.
