Brian Holcomb
President
Brian Holcomb is president of the Nebraska Association of School Boards. Brian has served 
on the Coleridge Community Schools Board of Education since 1999. He has been a member of the NASB Board of Directors since 2008. During his service with NASB, he has served on the Executive Committee, Legislation Committee, Conference Committee, and the Ann Mactier Award Committee.
He has worked as the Executive Secretary of the Yankton Scottish Rite since 2003, managing finances, personnel, facilities and membership activities of the regional fraternal and philanthropic organization. He also has worked with the Coleridge Rescue Squad as an EMT since 1986.
Brian has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education from Wayne State College and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of South Dakota. He has two children. Amanda works as a Registered Nurse and Isaac is a student at Wayne State College.
John Spatz
Executive Director
John Spatz began is work with the Nebraska Association of School Boards in 2003as legal counsel. His work at NASB was primarily centered on providing legal information to the many members of the association. Since his employment with NASB he has established the Negotiation Information and Technology Network (NITN) to assist school boards in their negotiations process; he has written a book entitled “Guide Book to Nebraska’s Public Meetings Laws;” he has expanded the number of legal workshops available to members; and developed a number of publications intended to assist board members fulfill their roles. Due to his position as Legal Counsel for NASB he has also served as the secretary and treasurer of the Nebraska Council of School Attorneys. From 2007 to 2011 John served on the Lincoln Nebraska City Council and also served as the Chair of the Council from 2010-2011.
In October of 2011, John assumed the role of Executive Director of the Nebraska Association of School Boards.
John is married to Julianne and they have two young boys, Evan and Colton.
