Recognition Programs

Join TLNLeaders recognizing leaders ... that's positive reinforcement at its best. We offer programs at the T+L Conference and through our publications to salute districts that have made innovative strides in technology for achievement:

  • Salute Districts: Each year during the T+L Conference, three school districts are honored for their technology achievements during the General Sessions. Salute Districts are excellent examples of the good things that can happen when technology efforts are well executed. Collaboration and teamwork, continuous improvement, and the seamless integration of technology across the curriculum as a resource for all students are common themes. Each Salute District shares the district's accomplishments with over 2,000 attendees and receive a special display in the Education Excellence Fair as well as a panel discussion session. This is also a chance to gain national press coverage.

  • TLN Site Visits
Site visits offer participants with an in-depth opportunity to spend structured time in a district to understand how technology has transformed classrooms, administrative practices, and community and parental outreach efforts. Hosts for the TLN Spring Site Visit Series is limited to members of the Network, however attendance is open to all. Districts selected to host Site Visits are often the subject of local and national press coverage. Since there is a rolling application, interested districts should contact Ann Flynn to discuss the process.

  • Trailblazer Award: Every few years NSBA recognizes a TLN member with the Trailblazer Award. This is for previous Salute Districts that have gone far beyond their first recognition. It was first given in 2002 to the Henrico County Public Schools in Richmond, Virginia, to acknowledge their leadership role in establishing the largest district laptop program in the nation. In 2004, the Trailblazer honor went to Community Consolidated School District #15 in Palatine, Illinois, recognizing its special accomplishment as a Malcolm Baldrige Award winner.
