Richard Lewis was appointed executive director of the Ohio School Boards Association on September 30, 2006.

As OSBA’s chief executive officer, Lewis is responsible for providing leadership in developing and maintaining programs and services that assist Ohio’s 720 boards of education in fulfilling their leadership responsibilities in public education.   Lewis, a native of Amherst, Ohio, joined OSBA in 1984 as a labor relations specialist. He went on to serve as a policy specialist and business and marketing manager.

He also has held numerous leadership positions within the association, including deputy director of information services, director of labor relations and management services, and director of communication and information services. He was promoted to deputy executive director in 2002 and served in that position until becoming interim executive director in July 2006.

Lewis has served on numerous state and national committees including Ohio’s School Employees’ Health Care Board Advisory Committee, the Ohio Leadership Advisory Council, the Ohio GrantMakers Forum Standards Committee, the KnowledgeWorks Ohio Transformational Dialogue Team and the Education Policy Tax Institute.

He is a graduate of Ohio University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration. He also holds the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is certificated in convention management by ASAE.

Lewis belongs to the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, American Association of School Administrators, Ohio Society of Association Executives and American Society of Association Executives.

Lewis and his wife Laura are the parents of two sons, Jason and Jacob.
