Florida School Boards Association 
Wayne Blanton has been the executive director of the Florida School Boards Association since 1985. The Florida School Boards Association, Inc. (FSBA) is a nonprofit corporation representing all school board members in Florida. FSBA has been the collective voice for Florida school districts since 1930 and is closely allied with other educational and community agencies to work toward improvement of education in Florida. Prior to assuming this position he served as associate director for ten years and has acted as the Association’s legislative representative for the past 30 years.
Before joining the Association, Blanton served in numerous professional capacities including director of client services for the Sunland Center of Tallahassee; counselor for the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation for the State of Florida; and as an infantry officer in the United States Army from 1968-1971.
Blanton has presented on many topics surrounding public education including understanding the omnibus education act; teacher testing school insurance, legislative issues, and school finance. He has published special reports for local school districts on issues related to collective bargaining, unemployment compensation, legislative lobbying, tax reform commission plans for education, unions and the public school systems, and school finance.
Blanton serves as a board member on multiple community organizations, such as the Florida Association for Retarded Citizens; United Cerebral Palsy of Florida, the Governor’s Committee on Autism; the Florida State University College of Education Advisory Committee. On the national level, he has served on the National School Boards Association’s Liaison Committee.
Blanton holds a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and Doctorate of Philosophy in Education Administration from Florida State University; and a Master’s of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Florida A & M University.
