2010 FRN Conference Background Information

In the coming year, Congress and the Administration will make critical decisions about education policy and education funding that will impact your school district’s future. The FRN Conference gives you a chance to directly share with your members of Congress how federal policies impact local school districts.

Some of the key issues at the 2010 FRN Conference include:

  • Reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA/NCLB), and enlist Congress to commit to our agenda before new legislation is enacted.
  • Ensure adequate funding for education programs, including full funding for mandates such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Title I – especially when stimulus funding ends.
  • Promote local governance and decision-making as keys to effective public education and student achievement in the 21st century.
  • Advance forward-looking initiatives in pre-k education, teacher effectiveness, and education innovation.

Visit www.nsba.org/FRN2010 today to register for the conference with NSBA and with the hotel. We look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C. this winter.
