Abstract:
Developed for school governance leaders by the California School Boards Association (CSBA) and California Project Lean, this guide outlines a step-by-step approach for school officials to change the school environment so students can develop and practice healthy eating and physical activity habits. The guide provides information on the benefits of good nutrition and physical activity; highlights school districts that successfully offer healthy foods and beverages; and includes sample policies and resources. This guide is part of a series developed by the CSBA and California Project Lean called "Successful Students Through Healthy Food and Fitness Policies: Act Now for Academic Excellence."
