Teaching Sex Education With Age-Related Values
Abstract:A middle school teacher discusses the eight values she developed with parent input for teaching middle school students in conjunction with sex education. The values are: "Our bodies are beautifully and wonderfully made;" "Each system of the body has a physiological purpose;" "Early adolescents are too young to engage in sexual intercourse;" "Decision making skills are important;" "Distinguishing fact from fiction is important;" "Respect yourself and your body;" "Communication skills are important;" and "Parents are important teachers of values."
