9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. NSBA's Day on Capitol Hill

Spend a full day meeting with your senators and representatives and their staff on Capitol Hill. Use your skills and knowledge to secure strong support for school board priorities.

5:30 – 7:30 P.M. Reception to Honor School Board Members at the Library of Congress

End your day at NSBA’s annual reception for school boards, state school boards associations, Congress, the Administration and staff. This closing event celebrates 40 years of the FRN conference and honors local school board members for their work on Capitol Hill, providing a forum to share meeting experiences and to strategize effective follow-up with members of Congress throughout the year.

2:00 – 5:00 P.M. Council of Urban Boards of Education (CUBE) Issues Forum: Implementing the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act

Exchange ideas with your urban counterparts regarding federal legislative issues that affect your school district. Hear an overview from NSBA Advocacy staff on developments in child nutrition policy since the passage of the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act in 2010 and its implications for school districts. A panel of school board members and national experts will discuss implementation of the policy in their districts. Please check the “CUBE Issues Forum” box on the registration form if you plan to attend. Urban districts of any size are eligible to enroll in CUBE if they are members of their state school boards associations.
