New Video Clips Give Strategies Schools can Use to Address Food Allergies
January 07, 2011 – The National School Boards Association (NSBA) has posted seven short video clips related to addressing food allergies within schools. The videos are available within NSBA’s School Health Programs main webpage under “Resources” (at the bottom of the page) and can be accessed by clicking here. The videos include interviews with a superintendent and school board members who share effective strategies they have used within their school districts to manage and prevent food allergy reactions and keep schools safe for all students. Those strategies include involving all of the student body and school staff as well as parents and the community, and respecting differences. In addition, one of the videos includes personal stories shared by children with food allergies and their parents.
Several video clips were shown during a webcast held by NSBA on November 9, 2010 entitled “Food Allergies and Schools: Keeping Students Healthy and Ready to Learn,” which shared effective policies and practices that school boards and schools can use in their approach to addressing food allergies within schools.
