You can sit on the sideline or you can become involved in the process. While your State School Boards Association works on your behalf in your state, NSBA advocates for school boards on the national level.  NSBA offers a number of opportunities to promote student achievement, influence legislation, advance public education, and become advocates for effective school governance.

Advocacy

  • Visit your State School Boards Association Web site to learn about advocacy efforts in your state.
  • Visit NSBA's Legislative Action Center to take make your voice heard on current education issues in Congress, including NCLB.  You can send a message to your members of Congress about how federal legislation is affecting the schools in your district.
  • FRN - The 35th Annual Federal Relations Network (FRN) Conference took place February 3-5, 2008 in Washington, D.C. Conference materials are now available for download so you can continue your advocacy efforts.
  • Pass a Resolution – Help NSBA reach 1000 resolutions by passing a resolution in your school district in support of H.R. 648.  School districts across the country are uniting in support of H.R. 648 to improve and reauthorize No Child Left Behind. Is your district on the list? Learn how to pass a resolution.
  • Voucher Strategy Center - The President's final State of the Union Address and his proposed budget both make reference to private school vouchers. Visit the Voucher Strategy Center for more information on how you can take action against vouchers.

National School Boards Foundation - Founded in 1995, the National School Boards Foundation works in partnership with the NSBA on projects aimed at helping school board members become wise and efficient decision makers.
